Research results

It was shown the existence of a singular component in the diffraction field, which plays a role of eigenmode in diffraction similar to the plane wave in free space.

Weighting method for the synthesis of phase structures was developed in the Institute. It allows manufacturing various diffractive optical elements and can be applied to the crystallography, astronomy, and other fields of physics.

Nonlinear optical and holographic methods were developed for creation of anisotropic nanostructures based on bacteriorhodopsin molecules. A new polarization-sensitive reversible holographic material, based on liquid-crystalline polymers, was synthesized and studied.

It was experimentally confirmed the existence of fundamental and vortex laser solitons and opposite-phase parametric domain walls.

The effects of supercollimation and optical non-reciprocity in two-dimensional photonic crystals were investigated.
